Although the name “Kipcon” first evolved while he was still a student at Tulane University as a combination of the term “kip” meaning a thousand pounds and the term “con” representing consultant, Kipcon, Inc. was officially founded in 1986 by Mitchell H. Frumkin, PE, RS, CGP. He quickly built the company’s reputation as an innovative, full-service engineering firm. Today, Kipcon is an industry leader providing engineering services to a wide range of clients. This reputation has always been reinforced by Mitch’s leadership within organizations such as the Community Associations Institute (CAI), for which he has served as President of the local chapter, national organization and national Research Foundation. This involvement continues today by Mitch as well as many other staff members of the firm both locally and nationally.
Throughout the years, Kipcon has led the industry with innovative and cutting-edge new concepts. For instance, Mitchell Frumkin was a prominent influence in the creation of the CAI’s National Reserve Study Standards, Reserve Specialist designation and best practices paper on Transitions. Likewise, Kipcon’s Value Engineering Analysis© introduced a new more integrated approach to preparing a reserve studies that helps associations reduce ongoing expenses while going green.
